Nymphing Master Class

Join us on the 29th October to the 2nd November on Groenkloof for a nymphing course with Korrie Broos supported by Mark Krige. You will learn the secrets on nymphing that Korrie learned from the best fly fisherman in Europe and included in the package is an Echo rod valued at R2200. The 7km Vaal River on the Groenkloof concession is perfect for this course, with the diversity of the river giving you a chance to implement the tactics taught to you by Korrie. On The Fly’s base camp will be home for the 4 nights, so you can focus on the fishing while we carry, cart and cater.

Numerous world and European champions have shared their secrets with Korrie, and for the last 2 years he was teaching what he learned on his travels in Europe to fisherman in South Africa, with great success.

Although intense, this course focuses on the practical side of Nymphing and is limited to 8 fisher man to ensure personal assistance in learning all the techniques. This will not just improve your fishing for Yellows, but your river and stream fishing overall.


Trip schedule:


Friday  29 October:


 Arrival in Warrenton where an ON THE FLY representative will meet you from where you will travel 20km to base camp. (Transport from Warrenton to Groenkloof can be arranged on request)  On arrival at camp there will be a quick orientation and safety discussion, after which we will serve a light lunch/brunch. You will receive your brand new Echo rod – and have the opportunity to test it on the water.


Korrie will join us late afternoon and will handle the course introduction, after which dinner will be served.


Saturday and Sunday:


Korrie will commence with the course, and while you are focussing on the job at hand, ON THE FLY will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Monday 1 November:


Now that you have the course behind you, you have the opportunity to test your new found skills. Mark will be on hand to assist where needed. Fish your heart out!


Tuesday 2 November:


Brunch/Lunch will be served at a time of your choice, after which we will accompany you to Warrenton on your way home.




The menu will be discussed and finalised with you on conformation of your booking. Have a look under the cuisine section to see an example of a typical menu.


What to bring:


We will send a detailed list of necessities on conformation of the booking. It basically boils down to your fishing equipment, a sleeping bag and liquor. The rest will be supplied by ON THE FLY.




The cost of the trip is R5750 and includes course costs, an Echo rod valued at R2200, accommodation and catering. An individual is welcome to book for this course, but ON THE FLY reserves the right to cancel or reschedule if there are not at least 6 people committed. The course is limited to 8 people.
